Exhibition & exhibition design

Sifang Art Museum

Sifang Art Museum presents “Projection”, a new group exhibition in the summer of 2023. Premised on a multifaceted perception of light, the exhibition brings together 40 works by 26 local and international artists/groups in the Steven Holl-designed building. Following the visual and spatial design by participating artist and designer Duyi Han, the audience embark on a journey to revisit the concept of illumination amidst the interweaving of ephemeral lights.

In Cloud Step Garden (also a metaverse environment), the combination of classical idealism and digital modernism creates a new domestic space. “Cloud” means not only digitization, but also the dissolution of boundaries. The endlessly repeating gradients and dreamy colors bring a sensation of contemporary speed. The experience of walking and switching perspectives, with the clouds fading in and out, reflects the ubiquity of digital interaction in contemporary life. Classical Chinese architecture characteristically forms layered spaces with repeating lines and surfaces. The depiction of architecture and space emphasizes not three-dimensional distance, but composition and content. This is in line with our flattened, content-oriented, and cross-boundary lifestyle influenced by digitization.
